coffee prices today ; Arabica futures in New York edged up again

coffee prices today ; Arabica futures in New York edged up again as the market received no soothing news from top-producing countries, where farmers and exporters continue to hold onto thin stocks. The market also jitters over the escalating violence in the Middle East and gains in crude oil markets remain supportive of prices. The nearby March contract ended 1.95 cents higher at 273.60 cents/lb in dealings from 269.90 to 277.00 cents. The most-actively traded May contract ended at 274.35 cents/lb, up 1.35 cents after trading in a range of 270.35 to 278.48 cents. The rest of the board finished between 1.45 to 3.45 cents higher. Total estimated futures volume rose to 18,857 lots from 14,389 the previous session.

Robusta futures in London corrected slightly lower after rising to a fresh 2-1/2-year peak in intraday trade. The climb mirrors sharp gains in New York arabica markets. The March contract lost $7 to $2,335 per tonne after trading in a $2,302 to $2,372 range. May shed $5 to finish at $2,382 in dealings from $2,351 to $2,417, the 2-1/2-year peak. The back months lost between $6 and $7. Total estimated futures volume increased sharply to 16,463 lots from 9,381 the previous day.
